2010 Amazing A New Decade!!!

A new year is here! A new Sun is setting. To say this is my favorite time of the year is an understatement. Opening a new calendar is like a blank slate at my fingertips! It’s clean, neat and full of opportunities to experience new things. It is the time of year when I have complete control over everything in my life. A date book is a way to start fresh, penciling in whatever I choose—eliminating unwanted and unnecessary time wasters. It is a time of infinite possibilities. And the end of this year is especially monumental. We have completed a decade—ten years! What did we do with the last ten years? More importantly, what did we do with the last year? December 31st is a time to say, “Whatever happened, happened; whatever didn’t happen, oh well, next year is just about here!” I can honestly say I experienced a lot of new things in 2009—a new television program "The Chef You and I", more radio shows, more stations-nine and finally syndication. And I am proud to say this summer I was asked to return to my former station 1160 but with a new identity the new call letters are Real Talk 1160 WQRT an all Talk Station! It was sad to depart from WCVX 1050 but it was time to go back to the talkers! What was really quite awesome was that we made the Billboards this November with WQRT and it really helped to advertise our Saturday show. Thanks to the great station and all involved in making it happen. And in the fall of 2009 I started representing a new product just for Kids, named KidO! KidO is a healthy drink for children with juice, water and all the essential vitamins kids need. Kids just love KidO and so do I especially the Punch flavor and the Grape. And now the school lunch rooms are serving it. KidO is a wonderful beverage for Kids of any age and only 10 calories! Most memorable was to interview for our Holiday show the three singing priests from Ireland Father Martin O'Hagan, his brother Father Eugene, and Father David Delargy – featuring excerpts of their new album Harmony. This year we traveled for the show more than ever before we ventured to far away places like Hawaii, in May, LA in June and December, Detroit and New York in July, and Philadelphia in November. Just to name a few. Flew to greater heights, (in more than one way!) Yes, in the Hot Air Balloon, what a thrill! And overcame my fears and became a better person because of it. My experiences have given me greater insight into my own abilities and my own limitations, making me realize things as simple as a flight of steps can render me helpless. And saying goodbye to someone we love is never easy. 2009 has been a year of challenges and mistakes, dreams and changes, friends and family all combined into one 12 month time frame. And now we begin again. I also took time to inventory my life in the last 52 weeks. I realized I am surrounded by “things.” Things that I have collected things I have been given, things that I have purchased and things that have somehow just accumulated multiplied and reproduced in ways I cannot explain. I assessed what ail l needed and what I wanted to keep, and gave, sold and discarded. Somehow, does this make my life less complicated? Not really, but it does allow me to stretch a bit more and say that the important “things” in life are not things. Start the New Year, doing something for yourself, , try something new, a hobby, take time to read a book, visit a friend you haven’t seen in awhile, finally get up a start that exercise program even if its just walking in place and this year lets all get healthy! Happy New Year! From all the Staff of the Kathryn Raaker’s Productions and radio shows. Till next month!
