December and the Holidays!!

It’s hard to believe that December has arrived and is plummeting through the month while I try to gain solid footing! It’s sweeping me away! My busy schedule becomes crammed packed in December attending parties, creating events, gifting, wrapping, sending, recording, etc. etc. etc.! Before we know it, January will arrive, ushering in the snows of the season and we will all give a collective sigh of exhaustion! Actually, Christmas is one of my most favorite times of the year. Not only do I love the lights and the decorations that make everything look special, but I love the fact that I can give without guilt to whomever I want! I don’t have to say, “should I get something” or “should I spend the money” I just do it! It answers my desire to shop that I have to temper other times of the year. Giving really is my favorite thing about Christmas and the holidays. Giving to my family and friends, giving to my church and our congregation, but the gift of my time is the most treasured gift I have to give to anyone. December makes me stop and analyze exactly how I will spend each minute, because I have so many obligations. Every minute is doled out with precise measure. I have always enjoyed making gifts for those I care about the most. I have made everything from baked goods to wreaths. While the handmade gifts are certainly not the most expensive, they are the most heartfelt. I take the time to put “me” into each gift. I am confident that the recipients are also pleased with the end results. The Holidays is a time to reflect on the year past. What we did, what we didn’t do, how we have spent our time, because soon after the tree is down (or maybe before) we invite a new year into our lives. So for all of you, who are still shopping, wrapping, shipping and planning, take time to breathe: Breathe in the cold air, the sights and smells of the season. Breathe in the enjoyment of the holidays. Merry Christmas to all!
