Thanksgiving gives us a chance to take stock of what we have—an immediate look at our lives on the third Thursday of each year. It always amazes me when I actually “count my blessings.” I am so blessed! Each day I wake up in my own bed, with a roof over my head, hot and cold running water and food on my table. I am better off than 50% of the rest of the world. I have a husband who loves me, three incredible children and 13 grandchildren. God has blessed our hard work and our health is good. I am constantly meeting new people, speaking to talented and interesting guests on my radio and television shows, and I am able to create new ideas and activities. God truly is good! On November 2nd of this year, my mother-in-law, Margaret Raaker, passed away. But we had a long and incredible relationship with her. She was 91 years young. She lived well, was well loved, and we know we will see her again. Although we aren’t traveling to see our children, who are scattered around the country, we will be celebrating with our son and his family from California and the rest of my family here in the Cincinnati area. I am reminded as I count my blessings, that food and shelter are only two of the multitude of things I enjoy. I have countless friends, incredible relationships with my family, and enough money to accommodate all my needs. I have a radio program which attracts a wide audience of guests and listeners. I enjoy learning about their lives and hearing their interesting stories. I have a television program called the Chef You and I, that I love filming. I get to go places, do things and meet people that people in other professions never have the chance of doing or meeting. Yes, I am blessed. My Thanksgiving prayer is that you too, are able to count your blessings and realize all the things that mean the most are the things that are not “things.” Happy Thanksgiving! Kathryn
