Happenings in October

October has been an exciting month we have so much news to share from our trip to Hollywood, to the new experts joining our radio show to an added feature for our TV Show a cooking segment entitled "The Chef and I." To start with some of you remember on our TV show we featured the charity Operation of Hope on Born B 4 64 TV Show. We kept in touch with them and a few months ago we were invited to come to the Operation of Hope "Night of Smiles". For some of you that missed the TV Show a little background on the Charity. Since 1989, the U.S.-based Operation of Hope organization has traveled to Africa and South America, donating over 2,000 free facial reconstructive surgeries to children. So on Oct 3rd Kathryn traveled to Hollywood to visit friends and attend the event. She invited 10 of her friends and they had the time of their lives at The 4th Annual, ''A Night of Smiles.'' Operation of Hope hosted "THE NIGHT OF SMILES" on Saturday, October 4th at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles. Honorees for the "Women of The Year" and "Man of The Year" awards were given to legendary, Academy Award winner Patty Duke and Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker. Other honorees included Dr. Babak Azizzadeh, Dr. Keith Blackwell, and Mr. Jack Mortensen of Mortensen Broadcasting. Bryan Clay, 2008 Beijing Decathlon Olympic Gold Medalist spoke briefly. The evening's entertainment included a special appearance by Grammy winner, Paula Cole, renowned pianist, Carter Larsen and the West Angeles Children's Choir and renowned tenor, Troy Winemiller. The evening paid tribute to their very special guest, Beloved from Africa who was featured in People Magazine. It was truly an honor to finally meet the now famous Beloved, such a brave and handsome young man he is and such a wonderful story and happy new beginning that the Operation of Hope organziation made possible for him. How many people embraced and wanted to meet him and congratulate him that night. It was truly an enchanted evening of dinner, awards and entertainment. We visited with our friends Patty Duke and her Husband Mike and met Bryan Clay and so many more.
